What Happens After You Book a Trek in Nepal? A Complete Step-by-Step Guide
Booking Confirmation, What You Receive
Once you confirm your trip online, the company will send you a secure booking confirmation via email. This acts as your official proof that everything is arranged.
Typically, you will receive:
- A booking confirmation invoice (PDF)
- A detailed trip itinerary with day-by-day plans
- Payment receipt
- A packing list or checklist to help you prepare
The company may ask you to provide some important details like a copy of your passport, travel insurance information, and flight arrival details. This helps them organize permits, logistics, and safety arrangements in advance.
Payment Process, Deposit and Balance
Most trekking companies in Nepal follow a simple and flexible payment system. To secure your booking, you’ll need to pay an advance deposit. This confirms your reservation and allows the company to begin preparations for your trip. You usually pay the remaining balance after you arrive in Nepal, either in Kathmandu or Pokhara, before your trek or tour starts. It’s always a good idea to keep:
- Payment receipts
- Email confirmations
- Emergency contact numbers
These documents can be useful throughout your trip for reference and peace of mind.
Permit Preparation
One of the biggest advantages of booking through a trekking agency is that they handle all necessary permits for you. Depending on your destination, this may include:
- TIMS Card (Trekkers’ Information Management System)
- National Park or Conservation Area permits
- Restricted Area permits (for special regions)
This means you don’t have to worry about paperwork or standing in long queues; everything is arranged before your trek begins.
